The film, ‘Only Inhabitants’ is to be shot at the beginning of 2008 and edited ready for exhibition and broadcasting by the spring, in time for the 60th anniversary of the formation of the modern state of Israel.
The film was originally conceived by UK Production company 612 Media, who have many years experience of the issues within this region of the world. The director, Mark van Klaveren has in recent years been involved with other film and media projects concerning both the Bedouin community and those of the Israeli Arabs in the north of Israel.
The film will be co-produced by White Lantern Film, a BAFTA nominated UK film production company. In country advice and fixing has now been arranged and confirmed.
There is a possibility that the film will also be co-produced by an Israeli Arab film company with part funding from sources within the region.
It is hoped that the final film will be submitted to a number of International Film festivals to include Sundance, Amsterdam, Berlin and Toronto as well as being broadcast and distributed to a world wide audience. On the success of this film, there are plans to raise finance for a feature length drama-doc looking at some of the stories and characters involved in ‘Only Inhabitants”.
